Safety Culture at WCSS
At WCSS, safety is at the heart of everything we do. We prioritize keeping everyone safe—our people, clients, visitors, and the environment. This commitment extends to operating injury-free workplaces, serving food that is always safe to eat, and ensuring services are delivered with consumer and community safety in mind.
Fostering Best Practices with a Mobile-First Platform
Collaboration and sharing are integral to our business success. Recognizing that our safety teams are always on the move, we introduced WorldFlexi, a mobile-first platform designed for our global safety teams. This platform enables the sharing of ideas, promotes discussions, and facilitates learning, driving our journey toward safety excellence.

Our Approach
Our safety approach focuses on education, intervention, and collaboration. Lessons learned are shared across our business to uphold our strong safety record. While local processes address specific national safety risks and legislation, three key global protocols guide all operations:
- Global Safety Standards
- Global Supply Chain Integrity Standards
- Global Allergen Management Plan
Optimizing and Evolving Safety Systems
Our commitment to health and safety leadership is reflected in our continued investment in advanced safety management systems. Each location employs bespoke systems for:
- Leadership safety interactions
- Operational risk assessments
- Incident management
These systems provide valuable insights that drive process improvements and ensure transparency and accountability across our operations.

Personal Safety
We emphasize incident prevention through awareness, education, and training. Our safety culture empowers employees to take responsibility for their safety and that of their colleagues, fostering a proactive and supportive environment.
Food Safety
Our core values and global protocols guide food safety decisions and actions. Key measures include:
- Rigorous supplier approval processes to mitigate risks.
- Compliance with ISO 22000 food safety management standards at operational sites.
- Tailored food safety training to address unique hygiene and allergen risks.
In case of food safety incidents, we follow a holistic approach to respond swiftly, share insights internally, and continuously improve our practices.

Safety Governance
We’ve built a culture that prioritizes safety and ensures alignment at all levels. Regular health and safety updates are reviewed during Corporate Responsibility Leadership meetings and by top management. Our Health and Safety Policies are reviewed annually to reflect our goals, align with legislation, and meet client-specific safety expectations. Our leadership, from corporate offices to project sites, ensures safety standards are upheld and integrated into daily operations.
Safety Targets
All site locations report monthly HSE activities, including LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) and FSIR (Food Safety Incident Rate), to Corporate. Management bonuses are tied to these key performance indicators, reinforcing accountability.
